The Youth Service Community (YSC) program invites international volunteers to live, teach, and lead in rural Cambodia for 6 to 12 months—building brighter futures for children while gaining valuable global experience.
What is YSC?
Youth Service Community (YSC) is a long-term volunteering initiative by Cambodian Youth Action (CYA). It brings together passionate international and Cambodian national volunteers to work side by side in rural communities, focusing on improving primary education and empowering local families.
Through YSC, you’ll support teachers, lead learning activities, enhance school environments, and engage community members—all while growing personally and professionally.
What You’ll Do
As a YSC volunteer, you’ll serve in one of Cambodia’s beautiful rural provinces—Kampot, Kampong Speu, Siem Reap, or Battambang. Your work includes:
- Teaching English and digital literacy to children aged 6–12 through fun, interactive methods.
- Supporting local teachers in lesson planning and material development.
- Renovating and beautifying schools, from murals to classroom gardens.
- Organizing community meetings to encourage parental involvement and reduce school dropouts.
- Co-leading short-term international volunteer groups for school improvement projects.
You’ll work about 30–35 hours per week and live with fellow international and national volunteers, fostering a deep cross-cultural exchange.

- Certificate of Completion and personalized recommendation letter
These contributions help sustain CYA’s grassroots work, covering living costs, project materials, and essential services for you and the communities we serve.
Who Can Join?
YSC welcomes volunteers who are:
- Aged 18–35
- Fluent in basic English
- Passionate about education, community work, and cultural exchange
- Open to simple rural living and working in a diverse team
- Eager to commit for at least 6 months
No formal teaching experience is needed—we’ll train and support you.
